Owned & Tested is one person, and that person is left-handed. It is built around the gear I actually carry and use: pocket knives, EDC flashlights, and the tools and consumables I use at home. Fidgeting counts as use. If I cannot fidget with a knife, it stays on the shelf. I'm not ashamed of it.
As of September 2026 that is 33 pocket knives and nine flashlights, all bought at retail with my own money. So far nobody has sent me anything. If that ever changes, the label on that product says so, in the first paragraph.
Every knife I review gets checked in my left hand, on the unit in my pocket. The ones that technically work left-handed are the most annoying kind: so close to perfect, and yet so far.
The tool guides lean on YouTube. The best product testing right now happens there, on channels like Project Farm and Torque Test Channel, and almost none of it exists in writing. Search for a verdict and you get forum threads and content mills. So for tools I read and watch the independent tests, link the ones I lean on, say where the testers disagree, and add what I have used at home. Where I have not owned something, the page says so and names who measured it.
At home, anything that makes noise gets a squirt of WD-40. The stuck screw on my pool pump got the squirt, then bigger and bigger screwdrivers, then broken off and stripped out. The can does not win every round.
